FuturePub5 - The future of Science Publishing Tech

What a great night! Our fifth #FuturePub was held at The Driver on May 19th, 2015 as a part of this year's #PintOfScience festival. We saw six fantastic speakers give six lightning demos sparking plenty of discussion over drinks afterwards. Read more about the event and presentations.

Aries Systems and Overleaf Partner To Allow Authors To Directly Submit Manuscripts To Thousands of Journals

Overleaf is happy to announce an integration partnership with Aries Systems, a solutions provider for scholarly publishers. Once implemented, this new agreement between Aries Systems and Overleaf will allow authors to directly submit manuscripts created in the Overleaf platform to the thousands of scholarly journals that use Editorial Manager Ingest Service for online submission and peer review.

This new partnership between Aries Systems and Overleaf will simplify the submission process for authors while helping journals capture structured manuscript metadata and correctly compiled LaTeX files.

Launch of PeerJ Computer Science Journal

Given the longstanding popularity of LaTeX in the computer science community, we were very excited here at Overleaf to see the launch of the new PeerJ Computer Science journal in May.

To celebrate, we're delighted to announce that we have once again partnered with PeerJ to provide a special offer for authors publishing to their journals.

Anyone signing up for an annual
Overleaf Pro or Pro+ account is entitled to a special discount at PeerJ; they'll waive their $40 post-acceptance fee on any of their paid plans - meaning you pay the same fee whether your article is at pre- or post-acceptance stage.

Alternatively, if you sign up for a PeerJ plan you'll get three months free of Overleaf Pro+ on us - it's as simple as that.

If you haven't already heard about it,
PeerJ is the award winning academic open access journal serving the Biological and Medical sciences. It is fast, prestigious and beautiful, and PeerJ Computer Science is their new open access journal covering all subject areas in computer science.

Current holders of an annual Overleaf Pro / Pro+ plan can also take advantage of this offer - simply log on and activate
    here.

You can read more about this special promotion and how to submit your papers from Overleaf to PeerJ here.

    Technical Help & Updates

New Template with Word Count Built In

Check out this new template created by Nicholas Reith (one of our TeXperts), it has, among other things, a handy word-count built in!

It's a general article template which aims to serve as an advanced, feature-filled, place-holder template during the drafting and submission process.

    Nicely done Nicholas!
    Check it out.

Why does my document get stuck with a 'Loading, Please wait" message?

When accessing Overleaf from a new network (e.g. at work or university) or device (e.g. your new iPad!), things can sometimes get stuck. To help, we've put together a short list of things to try if a document does not load in a timely manner.
